How to cut curves (I have search but sol. didn't work)

Hey guys, I'm hoping you could help a novice user out. I'm working with CorelDRAW and making a text.

I want to remove the line between the Y and the S, as seen here:

Here is the full picture:

I can't find out how to do it. I can't seem to uncombine the letters anymore for some reason. WHen I Break apart curve" this happen:

Also I have tried the eraser tool and it doesn't have any effect.
 
I solved it now! Thank god! I used the crop tool to edge off a bit of the upper linings of all the upper letters. It wasnt the "proper" way to do it, but it doesn't matter anyway.
 
Ok I'm back where I'm started, kind of. My solution isnt viable since it removes to wireframe on top of the letters and I need it for the plotter machine. How come there is a filling between the Y and the S and how do I remove it?
