can i use ISPF to create variable length records?
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
Yes. When allocating your dataset, specify V (variable) or VB (variable blocked) depending on what you require. When calculating length, don't forget to add 4 in order to cater for the Record Descriptor Word (RDW).
