How to create page number links (Result Pages links) on pages

hey
i was wondering if anyone knew an easy to create page number link or "Result Pages" as google has it on there pages

So when you have a page full of results queried from a database and you want to break or link the result into seperate pages i want to know the logic or some example on how i could create that.
