The following text logo was created using the (Cooltext) website using these settings:

Logo style: Nova
Font: Becker
Glow Color: Black

They only give you a 72 dpi image but I need a 600 dpi image so I am trying to re-create it using Photoshop CS2. I don’t have the Becker font so I used the closest that I found which was Alibi. I then used a “Bevel and Emboss” adjusting the Scale and Depth. This is the result:

These are my questions:

1) Where can I download or purchase that same Becker font?
2) What can I do to better duplicate that “rock” pattern in the latters?
3) How can I create that “Nova” effect in the background?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

I found the Becker font and updated the image. I still need help with questions 2 and 3:

2) What can I do to better duplicate that “rock” pattern in the latters?
3) How can I create that “Nova” effect in the background?

The starburst tutorial was very helpful. Thanks.

These are the variations that I created:

I am creating these logos for a musician that I am friends with. She has now asked me to modify the last logo on the webpage (the one with the red letters, red and white starburst and black background) to make the background white. When I do that, the starburst disappears. I tried creating another starbust following the tutorial substituting red for white and white for black but it does not come up looking like a starburst.

How can I create a red starburst of a similar shape as that bottom logo but with a white background?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Use the red on black background and go to IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>INVERT. The background will become white and the rest will probably be a greeny colour. Change the colour by using HUE/SATURATION or CHANNEL MIXER found in image>ADJUSTMENTS.
A better way to change the colour is to make a layer above and draw a rectangular selection larger than the image. Fill the rectangle with the red you want.
Apply the layer blending mode 'COLOUR". The rectangle will disappear and your artwork should be red on white. To tweak the colour do this on the red overlay ( hue/saturation, brightness etc ).
The centre of the starburst will be dark red - not white.

Oh I forgot to add:
After doing the colour layer, you might find that you can obtain a more accurate colour by changing to CMYK mode then convert back to RGB when the file has been flattened.
