Open a new file, 300x300 pixels or whatever. Make it large and then downsize it later.

Turn on the grid and increase 'snapping'. I recommend using a grid of medium density (one line every 10 pixels or so).

The grid makes it very easy to draw something with sharp angles like this AND keep symetry.

Select the polygon tool and draw the outline of the bolt. Then stroke a 3pixel wide black line using the venter modifier.

That makes up the border.

Then use the magic wand to select the inner part of the bolt and fill it with yellow.

Obviously there is a bazillion ways to do this, this is one quick and easy way. I recommed adding elements to different laters so you can manipulate them later. » » » » » »
