There is a database of *.btr files which is accessed by an application. There are no ddf files to describe the layout of these files, instead this information is hardcoded in the application. I want to import the data in an SQL database but I need to find out the record layout. I think a good idea is to use a ddf sniffer in order to create this information easily. Does anyone know how effective these utilities are and where to find them ?

BTsearch does a good job of this from what I hear. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
