How to create bootable CD and DVD?

Hi,
I am trying to create a bootable CD or DVD. I surfed on the Internet and got some information. Most of processes need a bootable floppy disk as an image. Now I wonder how to customize the bootable disk. Like how to create the Autoexec.bat file and the config.sys file. How to choose the reference in such file? Could you give me some information about it or introduce a web site to me?

is a good start. Depending on what burner program you're using, you might be able to check a box specifying a bootable cd/dvd.
