Hi,

To say I'm a newbie at PSP is a vast understatement. I think I'm getting intimidated because its "artsy" and I'm by no means an artist. I have to learn PSP however. I have version 7, and I've been reading through the manual all day today.

Here's my goal: create a .gif file that is made up of a button with some text in it and is filled with color. It sounds simple enough, but when I select the rectangle, I'm able to fill it with color, I can't write within the button, and even then I can't save it as a .gif file.

I'm more than a little frustrated at my inability to create what I thought were basic graphics and I'm a Web Developer.
I've tried many tutorials all day today, but there still too advanced for me. Most tutorials assume I know what "layers" and "gradients" are.

Any assistance you can give is appreciated.

Thanks,

To insert text, click on the text icon then click anywhere in the window. This brings up the text editor. If you have 'floating' ticked, once you ok it you can move the text to where you want.

To save as a .gif ... choose gif in the Save As drop down box. If you're working with more than 256 colors and more than a single layer you'll get a dialogue box that will sort it out for you.

Hope this resolves your button.

Good luck!

PS Did you manage to sort out your .jpg enlargement?

Hi LittleRedHat,

I was unable to resolve the .JPG issue yet. That's just due to my lack of experience with PSP, but I'm getting there. Thanks for your advice. It was fantastic. I've been able to create about 11 buttons since my last post!

Now, I'm going to try to tackle making images that'll reflect a "highlight" state when the user hovers over them.

Thanks again for the advice!

Glad to have helped.

If you want to email me your .JPG with details of what you want to do I'll be happy to take a look ...

Good luck with your other projects!
