I don't know if this is even possible.
I am trying to create a custom template in which I can always have a company logo on top and a address below on the page.
This would be the template so that no matter what I write in between the letter head and subheading never move unless I want them too.

company logo on top
Place it in the header.

...and an address below on the page
Are you talking about the company address that is related to the logo? If so, place it in the footer.

Will you want the letterhead to have a different header and footer for consecutive pages?

Yes, and save the file as a template. the extension will be .DOT, rather than .DOC. The file storage location is important. Depending on your OS, but let's say Windows 2000 and XP, the template will be stored, be default, in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.

The fact that is under the username account is significant. This is the default location that Word will save the file.

This is fine if you (username), are the only one that is going to use the template. If not, the file must be copied, or moved, to a location that Word knows about.

Word has two (2) locations that it looks for templates. Tools > Options > File Locations will show them. User Templates and Workgroup Templates. User templates isthe folder mentioned above.

Templates should never be opened except by the creator. They are called by File, New - not the New File button....use the menu. When called, they recreate themselves, cloned if you will. The cloned file will have all the attribuets, styles, and macros of the original template.
