I need a template for 3x5 postcards that I can print with Microsoft Word. (I have version 2000) I want to print them one at the time and not multiple cards on a single sheet. I don't have many to print and will only print them once a month. All I need is something pretty basic. I might want to add a picture in the background, but it's not a necessity. I'll just have text on one side and address, postage, etc on the other.

How can I make a basic template for a 3x5 card? Thanks for any help and advice.

See the little box at the upper right corner of Word?

The one that says "Type a question for help".

Type "Template" in that box.

Basically, you open a blank document, go to File, Page Setup and select Custom Paper and enter the dimensions for the postcard size sheet.

Note that you may find Postcard already listed as a paper selection - the actual paper listed is dependent on your printer driver.

Make the margins as narrow as the default printer will accept to maximise the room for information.

Make any other changes you need such as the default font and line spacing. Select Save and chose Word Template from the Save As Type window. Normally, Word should automatically switch you to the default template folder: if it doesn't switch to the correct folder to save to now. Give the template a name - postcard - and save.

To use, use File, New and double-click the template to open a new blank document based on the settings you chose.

Obviously, you can put loads of boilerplate text and a watermark image on the template as well depending on how much is going to be repeated every month.
