Hey All,

Very easy question for you Livelink Guru's i'm sure..

I want to create a new user for livelink that will have reaonly access to all folders..

How can I do that?

Or is there already a guest user set up for Livelink by default?

Please let me know as soon as possible..

Thanks,
Piesang

Take a little time to understand the user permissions we will call him Joe bloe vs Object permissions.

A)Whoever who creates Joe Bloe in livelink can at a maximum
give him all of them self explanatory
Log-in enabled
Public Access enabled
Can create/modify users
Can create/modify groups
User administration rights
System administration rights
B)Livelink's Object(read folders, documents,CD's) permissions are akin to User,Group Others in unix with red ,write, execute
In this case a user can
See
See Contents
Modify
Edit Attributes
Add Items
Delete Versions
Delete
Reserve
Edit Permissions
So in your case you have to create a user called 'guest' preferably put it in a group and whereever this guest user needs read only access turn the first two perms on.
Greg has a great article at this link
that covers a lot of an efficient taxonomy.

Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more.

OK... when I create this user to I need to enter in an email address for them in Livelink...

Or can I leave this blank... hoping I can leave it blank..

Hey Banana

You have to give permissions on folders. If you click on the little thingy next to the top structure folder (these permissions filter down through all directories under this one) -permissions, select the user you want to give permissions to (or group), and give them relevant permissions, it's that easy, cheers
