How to create a "back up" routine and button.

I would like to create a back up routine which allows the user to select backup drive and directory. Has anyone done this?
 
Yes -but.

It isn't the best approach.

It would be MUCH easier to just use a dedicated back up sub-system from a third party. Get a device and software package. You can use either tape or CD-R/W device and have an 'auto' backup occur on your schedual(s). Mostly menu driven, so it is less work. Mostly automatic, so fewer occassions for error (forgetfullness) ...
