I require a Help file similar to the ones found in the sample databases. They seem to be similar to the Form media.. but seem to resemble html as well? I looked through the directory in Access to see if files were attached.. but didn't notice any?? does anyone know how these files are generally created? ie.. Index/Find/Contents

hilux,
For the standard .hlp files, you need the help compiler (i think it's winhelp.exe), which was available with the Access Dev. toolkit, but I think it's generally available from ms's website. As I recall, you need to create an .rtf file in word, and use bookmarks & footnotes for links, etc, and than use that .rtf in the command line when winhelp.exe is called.

It's been awhile since I've created one, lately my projects have been bigger and we have a fulltime help team who use RoboHelp, which is a more flexible and user-friendly help compiler.

There is a product out there called RoboHelp that looks pretty good. I've used the demo, and it seems pretty easy. The cost is a little higher than I would like, but it seems reasonable. Check out for more info. (And no, I don't work for them.)
