I know this is probably a newbie question, but I couldn't find anything in the FAQ's. How do you set a parameter to use a drop down list at all. I've got a report with a parameter field, with three default values in the field. I've unchecked the box that says "Allow editing of default values.." I would expect that when this report is run, I would get a dropdown box with my three allowable values. I get a textfield and if the user types in one of my values the report works fine, if they misspell it then the report bombs. Obviously that's not a very graceful solution. :)

I'm new to Crystal, so I could be missing something obvious. I'm using Crystal ver. 9.2

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

When you create the parameter, click on "set default values." You can either type in the values and add them to the right, or use the dropdowns to select the table and the field you want prepopulated. This will bring them into the area on the left, and you just need to add them to the right. (I'm assuming the setup in 9.0 is similar to 8.0.)

It's as I feared then. That's how I had the parameter setup, I even deleted the existing one and created a new one. I guess the web app that we have to display .RPT files doesn't support drop down boxes.

We have a folder on our webserver that we drop report files into and then when we hit the web app it creates a list of all the files in that folder, then we select a report and hit ok and it generates a screen with all of the parameter controls the reports need. When it renders this parameter it just gives a text box with the first default option listed in the box. So I guess the problem is with the web app. I was hoping there was somewhere in the parameter setup that you had to specify that "this parameter is a drop-down box" or something like that with a checkbox.

No Luck, I guess.
Thanks though.
