hi Folks.

How to create a boot floppy win xp based having a SATA HDD.
which instructions do i have to add in boot.ini file and which drivers do i have to add. In other words, i have a sata hdd with win xp pro sp2, and i want to boot from a floppy.

Thanks in advance.

Last bootfloppies I saw where to be manually created with Windows NT, later OS's like Windows 2000, XP and 2003 all boot happily from a CD, and a lot faster as well, booting on NT used 3 floppies, but XP bould probably require 5 or 6 of those pesky small storage things.

Is your question "I want to install Windows XP Pro but I have a SATA hard drive?"

If it is, you'll need the driver for the hard disk controller on your motherboard. Download this from the manufacturers web site and extract the driver if necessary and copy it to floppy disk. You may have even have been given the disk with the motherboard.

Next, boot from the actual XP Pro CD and press F6 when prompted to install the SATA driver. It will ask you for the floppy disk later in the install process. If you can't boot from CD, try looking at the boot order in your BIOS.

Of course, it may be possible that your BIOS doesn't support booting from CD or that your CD isn't bootable (i.e. if it's a 'backup')

If you really do want some boot disks, go to
