Using Photoshop CS2, what are the steps to create 3D curved edge letters that look like this example:

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Isn't that just the drop shadow effect on a layer of Cooper Black text?

(Complain to someone else if it doesn't)

...except that there is nothing bevelled, nor embossed. [bigsmile]

A bevel/emboss effect traditionally uses shadows and highlights to make a 3D effect. This is simply a drop shadow. There are no highlights.

I agree but I think there has been a bit of extra work done there. I have taken your advice and complained to the PC Hardware - Hard Drive Issues Forum as they probably need something to take their minds off their hum drum lives. LOL

Thanks to all who posted suggestions. I was able to get the effect that I needed by typing the letters using the "JAMES" font (93.1 pt, regular, crisp) and then using a layer style setting the "Inner Bevel" as follows:

Technique: Smooth
Depth: 211 %
Direction: Up
Size: 24 px
Soften: 16 px

The Shading was left at the default settings. I also applied the same bevel settings to the surrounding oval.

Here is the result:
