How to correctly take a Ghost image of Oracle DB?

Hi folks, Another question on behalf of my friend:

"what shld i do before taking a ghost image of a Oracle DB(9i) , so that after i restore that image back the DB works properly?"

Tell your friend to close the database first, otherwise you (or he or she) runs the risk of inconsistencies in the ghost image which would adversely affect restoring it. HTH.
