Can you expand on eaxtly what you are doing. Creating a test environment, for example?

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Oh, and Oracle release too, please.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Yes creating a test environment. I'm planning to move coldbackup files of oracle instance which is oracle9i to another aix box where 10 g installed. I need to know how to copy data files from one aix to another aix box.

I did a search on this forum and on forum822 for keywords [red]remote copy[/red]

35 hits here and 20 hits in forum822

That should get you started.

Perhaps you should get your boss to sign you up for an AIX base/advanced/networking course. This task sounds kind of basic to me.

Hi Ron. Thread186-847027 covers this for an 8i database. Not sure whether it will help in this case.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Did you get an answer somwhere ?
I think you should use oracle tools exp and imp as your releases are differents.

Bye.

Also take a look at rman
