I have a 23" telco rack (gift) that I would like to convert to a 19" rack to use to install networking equipment. Is there such a thing as a conversion kit for the whole rack? I have seen the conversion kits for each piece of equipment, but they are too expensive (comparable to buying a new rack) if I have more than 1 or two pieces of equipment to install.

It seems to me, if I could obtain two vertical rails that are one inch wider than the rails that came installed in the rack, I would be in business.

I'd appreciate any help I can get. I am strictly using this setup for learning purposes and do not have much of a budget to buy anything.

I hope this is ok forum to ask this question. Didn't see any others that seem mor appropriate

I probably would get uprights only from one of the open frame racks and juryrig into the existing uprights.

I've seen the open frame type rack at JDR and Jameco, if I recall correctly.

Rather than worry about rack mount, which is very expensive, I've added shelves using plywood into my racks and put narrow desktop systems into the spaces. It isn't pretty, but it is functional.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

How about removing the rails on one side of the rack, make/ get made, spacers of the appropriate dimensions and refit the rail using the spacers to move the rail in to reduce the gap.
