Hello everyone:

I received a lot of pm6 files. I do not have Page Maker in my MAC system. How I can convert these pm6 files to a pdf file or illustrator file?

Please answer me as soon as possible.

Flaquin

Hello,
You can do both getting the files into Illustrator and to pdf. To get into Illustrator.
Open the PM file.
File/Print
Choose the generic ps printer (if you don't have it, install it from the Pagemaker cd. The ps driver.)
go to Options button
click the print ps file
choose eps
This will make an eps file of the pagemaker file.
You will be able to get this into Illustrator.

To get a PDF:
Go to File/Export to PDF
This will export the file to pdf.
Or you can do a file/print
choose the generic ps printer
Options - write ps to file and choose normal.
This will give you a ps file.
Locate the ps file which is created.
Open it with Distiller.
This will create a pdf which you can view in reader.
Good luck,

Hi

first a message to ikonpro: flaquin hasn't got pagemaker.

Flaquin if you don't have pagemaker on your system, maybe you have quark. if so, there is an extension that converts pagemaker documents to quark. Otherwise you must create eps files or pdf's with pagemaker on somebody elses computer. No way around, sorry

Hello, I have the same problem than Flaquin, but in PC Windows, I got a lot of Mac Pagemakers file I need convert to eps, pdf, whatever.
Someone say that PM2Q of Markzware can be my solution converting to Quarkexpress, but I thinks there is another way to convert Mac to Windos PC in the same version of Page Maker, is not?

Please HELP MEEEE

Converter..

Hello,
You will need either Pagemaker or Quark to convert the files.
I'm not sure how in Quark.
Good luck

one surefire way to get your PC/Mac to read PM files is to have the originator of the file export it as a PDF. Then anyone with Acrobat Reader can view them. Most recent versions of PM (6, 6.5+, 7) can easily create PDF files. Just email your source and make your request. Besides, PDFs are smaller and make great email attachments. Of course, if you need to edit the files after the fact, you'll need some help there. PDF looks like a graphic when you import it into another program. I think some Adobe products will let you edit PDF files (maybe fullblown version of Acrobat). Later!

ericD,

sorry, but there is really no way to effectively edit a PDF file other than opening in Photoshop, and then you are only playing with fire.

As far as cross-platform, from Mac to PC is easy, as long as the docs were created with same vs of PM. If one was created with 6.0 Mac and you have 6.5x PC, then you are out of luck. You need 6.0PC to open the 6.0 Mac.

If they are same version, then the next step is to make sure you have all PICTs or Metafiles (depending on version) in the directory with the document. Click open, choose the for viewing and printing option and you should be home free.

You will probably have to substitute fonts, as Mac and Windows will name the same fonts differently. Also check the document for line breaks, etc.
