He peoples
i is having quite alot of difficulty with this.
I need to reinstall my o/s but i don't want to lose all my own files cause it won't let me un or re install windows.
I have come up with the solution of creatind another drive with the free space i have and putting all the files i want to keep on it like my mp3 collection and so on but i can't find an option to let me do this anywhere.
i have done this before on my previous computers and it was fine but i have recently bought a 2nd hand laptop from a police aution preety cheap and i have loaded winME on it and it has been fine until my brother downloaded a ton of spyware and it has done a lot of damge and i have been advised by windows ro reinstall. So are there any programs out there that are actually good not just crap little demos and trials that don't let you do anything at all that will let me creat another drive out of my free spce and stay there after i have formated the c drive and installed windows???
And is there any other solution to the problem???

Before you use any tools that manipulate partitions, be sure you understand how they work, then be sure again. Like any properly used tool, they will perform their job well. Be aware, though, that there is always risk of data loss with these type of programs.

Alternatives could be to install an external hard drive, CD or DVD writer.

And don't forget to run Spybot Search & Destroy on it!

Just a note about partition resizer - I have used an earlier version (1996-7) of this program. It did work, but had to follow quite complicated instructions. Not for the faint hearted (I think current - 2000 - version is similar)
