You have a JVC everio HDD cam and it forces you to work with these proprietary .MOD files, which limits you to bring into media players or video editing suites for playback or edit.

MOD is basically a MPEG-2 formatted file recorded by some digital camcorders, such as JVC Everio, the Canon FS100 and the Panasonic D-Snap SD-card camcorders. The MOD files also don't work perfectly with most portable devices like iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, Creative Zen, Sansa, Xperia, Archos, cell phone, etc.

So you probably need to convert JVC mod files into some more plain formats like avi,wmv,mpg,mpeg,mov,mp4,then you can use in windows media suites or apple imovie, iTunes, quicktime, FCE/FCP, iPod/iPhone/appleTV,etc.

There is an excellentmod converter for macthat can serve your purpose.
