Can anybody explain me how to convert existing Crystal reports 6 to XI R2?
We have lot of reports in Crystal 6 with stored procedures.
Is there any 3rd party tool for the conversion? OR do we need to rewrite the reports into XI R2?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
There were major changes in CR between 6 and 8.5, much less with XI, so a rewrite is probably needed - since the reports are based on stored procedures it may not be as bad as it could be.
But first, try opening the report(s) in CR XI's designer and seeing what happens - if you can run it and then save it , it will be in XI format ( and no longer openable in 6).

My experience going from 8.5 to 10 was that the SQL didn't convert, it was necessary to copy it to a text file and then put it back. Almost all of it still worked OK.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I do not have Crystal 6 installed on my machine. I have XI R2. I am able to open and run the report. Does it means It is a XI Report now?

Thanks

Hi,
Crystal saves in the version that has run the report as long as it is higher then the 'creating' version so your report is now XI ( at least XI compatible, you could try adding some post-v6 features like Dynamic Parameters to see if it is actually updated)
