how to connect two pc with out a hub

i am sachin
and i am hardware engg.

i have one problem , how to conect two pc with out a hub
means what is the process
tall me in detail
and what is the colour code of cat 5 cable
plz
 
You emulate the hub with a cross-over cable. Just like in the old days of RS232 you emulated a modem by crossing pins 2&3, you cross over the wires in the utp.

Normally the wires go straight through, 1 => 1, 2 => 2 etc

Cross them like this

1 => 3
2 => 6
3 => 1
6 => 2

That's the way I number them anyway- looking into the cable with the plastic clip on top of the plug, 1 is on the left.

what you need is in short, a cross cable.
You can get it in your are from a hardware shop also.
