I have two computers, neither of them has the network adapter, one is win95,the other one is win2000.
I use the parallel cable to connect the two computers.
I use the laplink3,but it's prompt "can't connect the remote computer" all the time.
Anybody who can tell me the reasons why i can't be successful?
thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!

Initially I would suspect that one (or both) of your parallel ports are not set to bi-directional mode. You may also find that they are set to different port modes (ECP EPP etc..). Check the BIOS of each machine to ensure they are set correctly.

Here is a good resource for all things parallel!

I don't remember exactly but I think you need a "special laplink our Direct Cable Connexion" type of cable. A standard parallel cable won't work because you need to have some signals crossed so that each parallel port will recognize each other. Search on the Internet and you'll find the proper pinouts.

Can i ask why bother messing around with a parallel cable, you can pick up network cards very cheaply. I would just buy 2 network cards and a cross over cable. The speed will be alot faster than a parallel cable.
