I have a Cisco C4000 running IOS 11.2(14) and Cisco C4500 running IOS 11.2(18). I want to connect them via two Teltronix TLM21-703 converters(the converters are connected together by co-ax) and I only have X21 DTE cables. Is there a way to either use the two X21 DTE cables back to back with a converter?, or can anyone tell the config.

To connect two router via serial ports, you have to have one DTE and one DCE cable of same type(i.e. X21, V.35 or RS232). You can have more signal speed with V.35 pair.

I have realised that the problem was caused by the X21-G703 converters. One was set to master the other to slave, this is ok in bridged environment. the resolution to the problem was to set both converters to slave and supply clocks from both routers.
