How to connect to BL20p G2 Blades?

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a second hand BL20p Blade Enclosure, with 8 BL20p G2 servers, all previously configured and working on a network.

All powers up OK, no errors etc and I have connected the enclosure off one of the Switch Modules to our network, and going by the flashing lights I assume something is working OK.

My problem is however with connecting to the ILO on each server. The backplane management module on this is the non-ILO version, so each server must be managed manually. Only issue is, what's the IP address for ILO on each machine?

I have tried resetting the ILO using the Switch on the actual blade, so I assume its now back to factory defaults, but I still am not sure how to connect. If it's defaulted to using DHCP, then it certainly isn't getting one from the network.

I know there is a diagnostics port on the front, but its the earlier revision G2 model from what I can see, and the diagonstics cable I bought is for the later G2 model, and won't work. I have tried to source the compatible Diagnostics cable but with no luck, nothing on eBay (plenty of the newer ones!), so whatever I need to do to get ILO access must be not through the front panel diagnostics port!

Any ideas on what I can do? I would like to connect to each blade in turn and configure them with an OS etc, but not having any kind of KVM access means a no go on that!

Appreciate all of your help!

Many Thanx, Richard
