Hi *,

Does any knows how to connect a distant WXP workstation to a redhat 3.0 server using xterm ?
Both the box and the WXP workstation are on the same local network.

In advance, thanks and a happy new year.

xterm??? xterm is a terminal emulator that runs on linux/unix, do you have it for windows? or you are trying to connect from winXP to Linux with graphics display? if so, use "linux terminal server client for windows"

Cheers.

Hi Chacalinc;

Yes as you say, it is a terminal emulator that runs on WXP client side when you use say exceed.
I can connect to several AIX Boxes this way, but not to redhat 3.0

Are you running the X-client on the RH box?

I don't know too much about exceed, I used it a long time ago. the commercial contender for exceed is Reflection X, whos supported linux from version 10, before that version only unix was supported... may be exceed has the same trouble.

Anyway, as I said, you can use "linux terminal server client for linux" instead.

Hi,

Thanks for your answers, all is OK now.

It was a stupid lan cable that was not connected well to the workstation.
