I briefly searched the topics for this answer, but I think it is not out there because I should already know this.

We have just purchased software that runs on SQL Server. I want to connect to the .mdf databases and then specific tables in that database via Access.

I got to File->GetExternalData->Link/ImportTables. From there, I chose Files of Type->ODBC. However, from there, I can not get a window where I can point to a specific .mdf database.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I have figured it out.

I had to change my 'default database' to be the one in particular that I wanted.

You will need to create the ODBC connection first.

if XP, control panel, Admin Tools, Data Sources (ODBC).

Select Add, then Type Sql Server, and fill out the data there. Once thats done, the connection will be on your list in access.

Dont want to state the obvious but have u created the SQL server type DSNs in the screen you might have got on selecting ODBC databases? Maybe once you create them you can point to the tables u need.
