hello,
i need to go on line with a web application,i've already buyed the domain name and a static public ip and configured the application under iis , what else i've to configure in windows server 2003 to make the application available over internet?
Take your Public IP and have it routed to your NAT'd server within your internal network; which I pray is behind a firewall.

thanks, for your answer, but i'm not expert about nat dns and so on... what exaclty i have to do ? for the firewall i use the microsoft firewall and an antivirus
You will need someone to host your site for DNS purposes. GoDaddy is cheap. And they can help you in your endeavour.

Not necessarily... the ISP I am with offers URL redirect options and before I have redirected a directory from my domain name to the external IP address my IIS server had at the time (so whilst the website is hosted by my ISP, a directory was hosted on my own webserver).
Although I would personally suggest that you do not rely on the Windows firewall and antivirus to provide you with security as often enough, they will be curcumvented and your server will be hacked - in this respect, a physical firewall may be more appropriate. For that reason alone, I would suggest hosting via an ISP

ok i will buy a p
hiscal firewall, but now let me know how can i go online,
what i have to do?
i have a windows server 2003
an asp.net 3.5 web application hosted in iis
and a public static ip
an usr9106 router
If you are so insistent on getting your server on the Internet despite the security concerns, just configure your static IP address on the server ensuring you have the correct default gateway, subnet mask and DNS servers from your ISP. This is providing you have a direct connection to the Internet and do not have an internal network.
Providing your static IP address points to your domain name, you should be able to browse to it.
But do this and expect your server to be hacked into at some stage, they always are when they are not protected very well....
