If you want your AIX server to use DHCP to obtain an IP address, but not to serve IP addresses to dhcp clients, what would you do to configure it that way? Seems like minimum configuration and startup is only for static IP's. and "use dhcp for tcpip configuration and startup" seems like it's suited for a dhcp server serving dhcp clients..

what if u just want to be a client?

Hi

startsrc -s dhcpd

Hi

You can also use the dhcpd command without the SRC, but with the configuration file.

Easiest way is to use WSM and NETWORK and TCPIP and use DHCP. This is for making your system a DHCP Client.

To make AIX a DHCP Server use the GUI tool dhcpsconf.
