Is it possible to configure multiple event servers on a single Windows 2000 server machine ??? If it is so..can anyone explain me the procedure to configure it ...
There was a special option for multiple Event Servers on Windows. It never worked well and was dropped. In 7.5.x and up, you can chose to use the multi-process Event Server on Windows (or any other platform), where each .msl can use it's own process, under one Event Server.
Best way to run multiple Event Servers on Intel is to run Linux.

I use multiple event server under 6.7.1 and it works fine. In fact I prefer it to the way vn 8 implements multiple event processes. I have never had a problem which is specific to the multiple event server installation. Only problem is in applying service packs.
janhes, wasn't that available in early release of 6.7 but eliminated in 6.7.1? I remember reading about it in 6.7 documentation but when I wanted to use it we had upgraded to 6.7.1 couldn't find anything about it and Ascential said they discontinued MES and related support for Windows.
Seems like you had to install the tool 2X in diffrent paths. But when I tried that I still had only one Wnodows 6.7.1 event server.
We got MES at 6.7. When I applied the service pack it updated some files in the event server folders and some in the base software folder. It took some manual intervention to get all the latest files in all the folders.
The only problem I encountered was if you need to create extra event servers after applying the service pack then you really need to go back to the beginning, reinstall all the event servers and service pack and copy files to the correct folders.
eyetry, you're right, the software did need to be installed for each event server required. During the install i asked for an Event Server name and created the Event Server service from this.
The software was installed into a MERCATOR6.7 forler and each Event Server had a subfolder of the event server name containing another version of the software.
So you'd get
Each folder has a complete set of software but some things like Java only load Jar files from the Mercator6.7 folder.
The mercator.ini file is mainly loaded from the EventServer_name? folder but some global settings are loaded from the Mercator6.7 folder. Dll's seem to be loaded from the EventServer_name? folder.
