Morning,

I am configuring a HP Laserjet 5si printer on a RedHat 9 system. The printer connects to office LAN through Jetdirect. Current configuration is:
===JetDirect Telnet Configuration===
Firmware Rev. : A.08.49
MAC Address : 00:60:b0:1c:f6:a7
Config By : USER SPECIFIED
IP Address : 198.4.195.93
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 198.4.195.1
Syslog Server : Not Specified
Idle Timeout : 90 Seconds
Set Cmnty Name : Not Specified
Host Name : NPI1CF6A7
Default Get Cmnty : Enabled
DHCP Config : Disabled
Passwd : Disabled
IPX/SPX : Disabled
DLC/LLC : Disabled
Ethertalk : Disabled
Banner page : Enabled

On the Redhat, I use Printer Configuration (GUI). Choose New-Add a New Print Queue.
Take printer as Queue name and choose “Networked JetDirect” as Queue Type.
Enter ip address and use the default port 9100.
Choose LaserJet 5SI from the pull down window, and click “Applying Changes” to acknowledge its settings. On the following screen, answer “Yes” to send CUPS test page to the newly created printer.
On the status field, it shows: Connected to host, sending print job…
But nothing happens on the printer.

Thanks in advance,
Warren

Hi,

I choose LaserJet 5Si/5Si Mx/5Si Mopier as the driver, then things just start working.

Thanks,

Warren
