Greetings.

My sincerest apologies if this is not the correct forum.

I am trying to get my Website up and running.

We are hosting using .MAC, but our domain name is through another company.

We have 2 domains and that should point to the same Website.

The site works fine if I enter the domain name, but if the left off it will not load, but says it is parked at my host's site.

The host said that I should set up forwarding on this domain with This has not worked out.

Anyone that can point me in the right direction on what needs to be done is my hero. :)

In addition site def.com needs to point to the same Website. I have this domain configured the same as abc.com, but I am prompted when I enter this address with:

The server at idisk.mac.com requires a username and password.

Sorry to bring what seems like an elementary thing to this forum, but I have been chasing this for over a week and need help badly. I have googled all week and have not found the right answer.

Thanks for your time and help,

CH

The host is telling you wrong. If the non- for abc.com gives you a different website (parked at...), then this is a DNS related issue that should be fixed correctly, even though it's possible to work around it. Use the dns tools at the domain registrar (which may or may not be the host where the website is). The correct setup would be an A record for all non-subdomains pointing to the hosting IP address. Then, a CName record for at that A record. (different dns sservices use different notation schemes which is why I'm intentially being somewhat generic in my descriptions).

Then, follow the same proceedure for the DNS records for def.com. Then, the final step is to configure the existing host at idisk.mac.com to answer for the def.com domain name. I'm not familiar with that service, but if you have a control panel system, look for a 'parked domain' feature or something similar.

... and then look around for a host that doesn't feed you lies and appear next to useless.

Cheers,
Jeff
