Hi there,

does anybody know how to close the Transformer via mdl.
I need this for a daily job which builds me an actual cube.

the script:
OPENPY "c:\test.pyg"
createfiles

works fine, but now transformer is still open and I'll get a conflict the next day.

Thanks
Stefan

We are looking for an answer to this too, we can close the model within the transformer application by using the 'NewModel' command at the end of the mdl script. However, this still leaves an empty transformer application open.

I found this at the Cognos' support site, but haven't tried it yet. They say to run your automated script from the command line. Read what they say below. Especially with regard to the -n parameter. This parameter should close Transformer when the script is done. Good luck!

&quot;<path>\trnsfrmr.exe&quot; -n -o &quot;<path>\file_automate.mdl&quot;

Note: Quotes are required to enclose the paths. Flags should not have quotes around them.

The -n parameter specified on the command line will run Transformer in batch, but won't exit Windows when it is finished. There is no explicit verb to close a model within the MDL script, but if you open another model it will automatically close the first model. Running Transformer with the -n option will close Transformer when the script is finished is executing.

The -o parameter tells Transformer to relinquish control to the script input file, disabling the automatic cube generation and time stamp update.
