I have some network shares on my Windows 2000 servers.

However, someone else has created a DFS share with the same name as these shares.

The result is that users clicking on their network shares can't get into them, presumably becasuse it now thinks it should look at the DFS root.

I have deleted the DFS share, but my network shares still are not accessible, even after resharing.

Does the DFS cache have to be cleared or something like that, and if so, can anyone tell me how to clear the cache, and get rid of all traces of the DFS file share.

You can run dfsutil /pktflush to clear the client cache. This is found in the Windows 2000 Res Kit. My problem right now is, how to do this on remote clients. I've recently taken out a specific server from DFS and still have clients connecting to it.

How about a GPO that has a login script for your remote users?
