Hello,

Can anyone please tell me how can I clear exchange system manager SMTP virtual server queue because I know if I restart the system, all the messages (approx. 6,123 and currenly frozen)in the queue will become unfreeze and I would have to freeze them one by one from scratch which is NOT at all fun.

Thanks for your help.

Depending on your config, try c:\inetpub\mailroot\queue. You may find the emails in there. You can move them.

I tried this, but the queue doesn't have any mails. Any other way you can think of?

Thanks.

The queues are there because there are messeges awaiting to be delivered. Do you want to delete these messeges?

If so, right click over the queue and select either delete (with no NDR) or delete (send NDR).

You see all those messages that are stuck in queue are junk messages and I have frozen them all as of now. I am afraid if I reboot the server, it will unfreeze all the messages and I would have to freeze them one by one which is not at all fun. There are about 6,694 messages.

Thanks.

Then you will need to delete the messages (with no NDR).

See previous post.

Just as a thought, if your know they are junk messages, are you sure your server is not open for relaying?

Or are these just returned NDR's from spam emails?

If so, you may need to invest in an Exchange RBL (realtime black list) spam filter to provent them from coming back.
