In the internet message logs there are messages that shown to be not delivered due to some error. In the queue, there are 8 messages that are trying to go out. They look as if users accidently sent email to users outside of the system. How do I clear the message queues? On the MAS, or MAS?

Well the messages are sent from the MSS. Can you post the error message or the message you see in the Queue ?

Are you networked with a MNS or a MMA system? I know of no way to clear the queue with out the root password on the MSS do you have that?

i cant view whats in the gueue. Under the queuer menu when selected nothing comes up. Is there somewhere else to look?
Could you send the steps to find it?

Your first message said you have 8 messages in the queue? where are you seeing that at?

Where do the messages say they are coming from ? as in what is the user email or mailbox number.

Please post the screen shot if you can.

Made changes to Internet mail options, queue is now clear.

Mail Gateway Machine Name: If set, all outgoing mail is delivered to this machine
Mail Gateway IP Address:
Server alias:
Warn about undeliverable mail after Never be warned
Report undeliverable mail and delete it after 1 day
Check for new mail every 10 seconds
Replace this DID string......with this string:

No gateway is present. we do use outlook client though to read messages. can I use a gateway to allow messages to be sent to regular outside email addresses? I tried placing on there, but we can get notifications sent to email address other than the one that is assigned when we program a mailbox into the system.

You need to look at the site prep guide. It has a whole section on the gateway and what you need to do to set it up. If you are going to send outside the network the SMTP server will need to allow relaying from the MM system or at least know that it is OK to send messages outside from the MM system

We thought that. Now since I know what documentation to look at, I review and get back to you.

One way is to make sure the DNS server that you have programmed in the MSS (assuming you have that setup) has an MX record pointed to your network SMTP server. As Ken Means describes, the site prep guide has the information.

cant seem to find the site prep guide. where can I find it?

In the Modular Messaging documentation it is under the reference section. The document is Customer Environment. Look for "Considerations when implementing Modular
Messaging-MSS".
