Hi,

I have a tape library that's configured with the TLO in ArcServe 6.61, and I can specify what slot is a cleaning tape. However, I have another server with a single HP Surestore DLT 80 drive in it, which requires cleaning, but I am unable to figure out how to clean it.. If I put a cleaning tape in the drive, Arcserve sees it as <Blank Media> and cannot use it to clean the drive from the Device Manager.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Well, ARCserve should see as cleaning tape as 'unreadable media' instead of blank media, so are you sure there was a cleaning tape in the drive ??
About cleaning in single drive environments: there is no clean tape head option in ARCserve with single drives. The moment you put a cleaning tape in the hardware will recognize it and start a cleaning cycle, so you don't have to worry that your drive can't be cleaned.

hope I'm clear

regards

Just inset the cleaning tape, let it run thru it's cycle and remove, the drive will sense it's a cleaning tape, you do not need to do anything in ARCSERVE. csconner
