Hi All (Again)

Does anybody know how to choose an outside line (for the purpose of making an outgoing call) on an ATA connecting to an MICS8x24 DR5?

Basically, I want the user to be able to pick up the handset and choose exactly line 3 (for example) to place their call.

Thanks!
Ron

If you have an ata connected to the phone system it should have its on extension, find out what extension number it is and assign line 3 to that extension. also you will need to make the prime line for that extension line 3 and change the trunk type to line 3 and this should work

Thanks

Actually, I wanted a user to be able to override the default (prime) line for the extention. is there a way to do that?

WHY ??? If you find a tip helpful Please take a moment to mark it as such.

the ata will only provide you with intercom dial tone even when you have prime line set on the phone. the way around this is to program an external hotline with a timed pause ( feature 78 )then press next to set the line or pool code this is located under set abilaties. I don't have a system here to post step by step directions. when your phone or fax goes off hook it will be connected directly to an outside line without having to dial a pool code.

ok, maybe it will be helpful if I am more clear about what I need to do:

we have a normal handset connected to an ATA.
the user on that handset needs to be able to dial both internal extentials and place external calls.

Normally the user dials "9" to get an outside line from the regular pool of lines (let's say lines 1 to 4)

However, sometimes he needs to dial using exactly LINE 5 because this is a special line we use for some types of calls.

Is there any code he can simply dial on his handset to get line 5 for an outgoing call? So he can pickup the handset, dial an internal extention, or dial 9 for a regular outbound call, or dial XXXX when he needs to place a call using line 5.

THANKS!

Ron

By the way, about the comment "If you find a tip helpful Please take a moment to mark it as such." How do I do this? I can't see how.

yes, assign line 5 to a different line pool with it's own line pool code. Example: 1-4 are pool a with code =9, line 5 would be pool b with code 8. To access line 5 they would pick up phone on the ata and dial 8 for access to that particular line.

good luck!
