All,

As I am new to MITEL (please bear with me incase it's dumb question), I want to know how to check how many unassigned licenses I am left with on Mitel Border Gateway.

I do know that if i Click on the Tab "Mitel Border Gateway".
It shows
License Information License type Total local Total local in use
Teleworker licenses 28 23
Tap licenses: 0 0
SIP Trunk licenses: 0 0
Transcoding licenses: 5 0

Is that the one I should be looking at ???

Also, if I go to the devices under MiNet/SIP devices it shows
Minet
Total devices: 30
Total enabled: 30
Total connected: 21
Total local Teleworker licenses: 28

SIP:
Total devices: 16
Total enabled: 16
Total connected: 0
Total local Teleworker licenses: 28

What's the difference between these 3 ???

Teleworker licenses 28 23 Means you have 28 purchased but have only programmed up 23. Looks like you have 5 teleworker licenses free.

Tap license are for the secure recorder interface which is another part of the MBG you don't have to worry about. The base parts of the MBG can be used with other Mitel products. The licenses purchased determine the functions it will preform.

SIP trunks 0 0 means you have not purchased any SIP trunk licenses therefore you can't use it as a SIP trunk gateway or proxy.
Transcoding licenses 5 0 means ( I think ) you have 5 licenses for compression, none of which you are using.

Total connected of 21 means there are 21 active Minet devices. Typically these are IP sets.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Hey lou,

Thanks a lot man !! you are simply awesome.

One more thing, how come it's showing 30 devices under Minet although it's saying only total 23 in use.

Also, Does that mean am currently having (46 devices) 30 phones under minet devices plus another 16 phones under SIP devices and am just consuming 23 licenses for all of that ?

And Can I use or rather reuse those transcoding licenses for Minet devices ???

Thanks once again. You are a big time champ !!!

Not 100% sure on why the 30. Might be the capacity you could license up to ie you can buy 2 more licenses before having to jump to the next level.

The teleworkers can be either Minet devices ( Mitel phones ) or SIP devices. The total of the 2 can only be 28. Based on what I see you have 21 Minet phones in service. It also looks like you have 23 programmed so 2 are not in service. You have no SIP devices. So you can either add 2 more SIP or 2 more Minet before having to buy more licenses.

I believe the transcoding is for compression. Compression can either be handled by the 3300 or the MBG. If you have the MBG doing it you need more horsepower in your MBG server.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
