We have an older pix 520 with 6/3 of the IOS. It is still using conduit commands which i am not familiar with. How can i tell if port 25 is open?

Thanks!

With that version of PIX OS, you can use conduits or access lists. Cisco strongly recommends you use access lists however. They have made available on their Downloads area on Cisco.com a conduit converter (if required).

The easiest way to verify if SMTP is open is to connect to the PIX itself and just to use the command 'show conduit' or show access-list' (had you had access lists instead).

Or from the outside:
Telnet [IP address of mailserver] 25

If you get a connection, the port is active and open.

A firm beleiver of "Keep it Simple" philosophy
