We have a notebook running windows 98, we would like to use it's Windows WordPad program to write reports. we would like WordPad to start every time with a certain pre-designed tamplet, so that we just fill in the data, save and print it down. Next time a new similar tamplet should come up automatically!

If I'm reading you right this is one way.

Create a shortcut to WordPad on your desktop. The easiest way is to right click, Drag and 'Copy Here' the shortcut you already have in your Start Menu (mine is in Start>Programs>Accessories). Right click the newly created shortcut and choose Properties. At the end of the Target line add the full path to your template and click OK. Now rename the shortcut to whatever suits you.

I am sure you know this but you can either leave the shortcut on the desktop, put it somewhere memorable in the Start Menu or in the Quick Launch ToolBar. Whilst you were in Properties you could have changed the icon from WordPad to something more appropriate to a template.

On completion, each time you click on the shortcut WordPad will open with your template pre-loaded.

Will this do?

Regards,
David

PS

On Change Icon you should see four including WordPads's default icon. On the other hand, if you browse to c:\windows\moricons.dll (assuming your winbootdir is c:\windows) you may find one that suits you better.
