I need to have AutoCAD automatically use a defualt plotter configuration AND the pen assignment no matter what drawing I open and who created it. Is there any way to do this?

If you are using AutoCad 2000 or above, this can be done by going to TOOLS > Options > plotting (tab) and pick the plooter and plot style.

This is only applicable to new drawings. I need the plotter settings to default to exsisting drawings.

go to file page setup
there you can set it at which printer and what colour or lineweight to print it at.
once you done it you can print it straight away
no need to check it again anymore
