Hi

i need to change the size of my /tmp (jfs)
system is AIX 5.2

chfs doesn't work.

How to do it ?

regards
Den

you should be able to increase the size of /tmp with chfs, can you post the display from 'df'. i think i have had this before when /tmp is currently 100% full.

Sorry

Of course the problem isn't for increase size but for to decrease file system size!! This work very well on AIX 5.3 not in 5.2.

new question: What is the procedure to decrease a file system /tmp (jfs) on AIX 5.2

regards
Den

My understanding is that you can only reduce the size of a JFS2 file system and only from AIX 5.3. See section 3.2.2 of Redbook AIX 5L Differences Guide Version 5.3 edition

You can reduce the size of any file system see my previous post, these guys also provide a util but at a cost

Sorry my view is that file systems cannot be reduced in AIX without a reboot unless you use third pary products and only JFS2 filesystems can be reduced in size in AIX.

One of the advantages of AIX is keeping the system up most of the time
