I work at an organization that has a HUGE list of users on our server. I want to give all of the users access to a particular folder and a few files. When I add users to the security the default is basically that they can read the file, but not write to it (it is read-only). I need them to be able edit/write to this file.

I can change the users one by one by one to have "write" permissions, but there has to be a better way. I have hundreds of users and multiple files in this folder. I've tried using CTRL and SHIFT to select multiple users to no avail. I also tried using the Advanced tab but can't seem to find it there either.

Does anyone know of any easy way to do this? I am willing to download a freeware or shareware program if I need to.

Thanks,
Jasmine

Microsoft's best practice is that groups go in DACLs, not users. Part of the reason for this is the difficultly that you point out here. It's easier to change permissions for one security principle (a group) than it is to change it for a bunch of users individually. I would recommend getting a good group structure in place on your domain. It will make your life easier in the future.
