Ok, this is a stupid question, but I've looked on this forum and Googled it.

Once you have logging enabled to log to a syslog daemon, how do you change the logging level?

I currently have it on 6(informational), but I want to change it to 5(notification)

I have tried:

logging trap 5
logging trap notification
logging facility 5

But I always get the response: Usage: clear logging

I tried typing in clear logging, but that doesn't do anything either.

Could anyone give me a clue?

Thanks

Hello
The logging on the PIX is quite straight-forward.These are the command neeeded.
PIX1(config)# logging host inside 192.168.50.8
PIX1(config)# logging trap notification
PIX1(config)# logging on

This should work!Just try turning off logging and then issue the above commands.Do a "show logging" to verify. If it doesn't work check to see if your syslog server needs configuring as well.
Regards

Was the syslog server working already?
(check the personal firewall)

What syslog server are you using? What port/protocol is it using?

For the UDP port, the default is 514 and for the TCP port, the default is 1470.
