on the Atlantic LAN (Give your Laptop 192.0.2.100)
Go through the Client Preparation if not already done.
If you are using Windows XP then just remove your Java from the control panel and download the java from the client preparation.
If using Windows 7 then you will have to add in a virtual machine with XP to do this.
After you are finished the client preparation then log on to the assistant.
After logging on then go to
Base Administration
Unix Base Administration

In firewall add in subnets that need access or individual PC's
Just a note on Windows 7. It will work fine if you make sure you don't have Java 7. If you have Java 7 you have to remove it and manually download and install the newest version 6, which I believe is V6 Update 45. If you are using 4000 V7 you also have to download the optional encryption/security files and copy them into the appropriate directory. Install that before you do the client prep and that will let you get through the Java portion with only a caution that you're using an unsupported version of Java. Also make sure you go into the Java tool in control panel and set it to Never Autoupdate. Java V7 breaks assistant in all versions at least down to 4000 V5.
On the Firewall.
It will stop connections to the HiPath if those IP addresses are not added to the Firewall.
Say the HiPath is 10.11.12.13
Your PC is 10.1.2.3 and there is no entry in the firewall - you will not connect to 10.11.12.13
However if you add 10.1.2.3 as a Firewall entry then you will be able to access it...
XP is easier with the earlier versions.
However if you end up dealing with all versions and your PC is windows 7 then you have to use virtual xp, one for each version.
