I am using crystal reports version XI release 2.

I have a report which is groud by employeeid and the report is working fine.

However my client wants the report to be sorted in the ascending order of employeelastname.

How can i do that?

Thanks in advance

Add a group on employeelastname and in the group expert, make it your group#1. You can suppress the group header and footer if you like.

An alternative approach would be to insert a maximum on the employeelastname at the ID group level and then go to group sort->all->maximum of employeelastname->descending (I think).

I was doing the first approach and thought there might be soem other efficient way.

Please explain a little bit more in detail on the alternative level.

What more can I say? Right click on the name field in the detail section and insert a maximum on the employeelastname at the ID group level and then go to report->group sort->all->maximum of employeelastname->descending.

Thanks LB sorry if the question has irritated you.

Not at all. I just couldn't think how to be more specific. Did you get it to work?

It worked though in the mock up report. I was too apprehensive to try it in the real report. That report was doing by your first solution.

thanks for your continuous support.
