Hello,

I only found an old rather short thread about this....

We need to move our NW server from one domain to a new AD domain.
The NW server Identity is the full qualified domain name (like example.subdom.myfirm.com). The same is the client ressource.

The short name of the server will not change, only the domain.

Has anybody done this in the past and can provide a step-by-step list how to proceed?
Do I need a hosttransfer, if only the domain changed?

NW server version = 7.4.4 on W2K3

Thanks in advance.

regards
Michael

The hostid is generated from the windows sid.
A new AD domain leads to a new sid and a new hostid.

Workarround :
Transfer the domainaccount of your backupserver with the microsoft tools admt to the new domain.
Then you only need to add the new name of the server as an alias to the server object.

Re-installing the OS will lead to a new SID - that would mean that you need to do a host transfer.

Moving to another domain would affect the NW configuration of course but to the best of my knowledge will not affect licensing.
